Public Speakers & Educators: Alzheimer's and CaregivingOver 210,000 North Carolina residents are currently living with Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to increase 22% by 2025. Part of the Alzheimer's Association's mission is to drive risk reduction and early detection and our free community education programs are one way to support our goal. The role of the Community Educator is to learn and present ready-to-go programs, such as 10 Warning Signs or Understanding Alzheimer's. These are applicable to any audience and teach them about the differences between normal aging and possible signs of dementia, the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia and causes, risk factors and stages of the disease. |
